What is a Hydrafacial?

The Hydrafacial is a multistep facial treatment performed with a proprietary machine (Hydrafacial MD) manufactured by Edge Systems. In one session, aestheticians can use the Hydrafacial device to cleanse, exfoliate, extract, and deliver a variety of rejuvenating serums.

How does it work?

The procedure is completed in three parts: Your provider uses a vacuum-like attachment on the wand to help extract debris from your pores. They also use a peel to help exfoliate and resurface your skin. Finally they infuse vitamins and nutrients custom blended to exactly what your skin needs. There are three levels of Hydrafacials offered at NOVA DERM INSTITUTE:

Signature Hydrafacial (30 minutes)

Includes: Exfoliating and Antioxidant skin Boosters

Deluxe Hydrafacial (45 minutes)

Includes: Exfoliating, Antioxidant Boosters and LED Light Therapy

Platinum Hydrafacial (55 minutes)

Includes: Exfoliating, Antioxidant Boosters, LED Light Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage Massage

What to expect during your treatment?

During the first part of your Hydrafacial treatment, your skin will be cleansed and prepared for the remaining part of the procedure. Your skin will then be exfoliated, which removes dead skin cells and other impurities. Last step is an infusion of antioxidants.

What to expect after your treatment?

The results from this treatment will vary depending on which facial you choose. However, all of these facials result in a smooth, hydrated and glowing appearance.

What are the benefits of this treatment?

This professional procedure may help treat a variety of skin conditions, including acne, dryness, and wrinkles.

Does it hurt?

While there is a deep cleansing, exfoliation and peeling process, none of these hydrafacial treatment steps cause any pain whatsoever to skin. Many people describe the process as feeling like a tiny vacuum is tugging gently on your skin. Nothing is being pulled hard, poked or irritated.

What are the side effects?

While some people may experience mild redness, tightness, or sensitivity after the treatment, these effects usually subside within a few hours. To ensure that you have the best possible experience with hydrafacial, it’s important to follow your skincare professional’s instructions for post-treatment care.

How many treatments will you need?

Several sessions allow the skin to fully absorb the nutrients and serums for maximum impact. We recommend 3 – 6 Hydrafacial sessions spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart. However, the number of treatments needed is based on your unique goals and concerns.

How to prepare for the treatment?

  • Do not use retinoids or exfoliating products for one week.

  • Do not wax or shave the treated area before your visit.

  • Do not get a facial or chemical peel for one week.

  • Do not expose your skin to the sun.

  • Schedule your Hydrafacial at least 2 days before a big event.

Is this treatment permanent?

One Hydrafacial is all you need to give your skin a reboot. But like all good things, the results from Hydrafacial eventually fade away — typically, after about 4 weeks. Fortunately, you can keep coming back to get more Hydrafacial treatments every month.

Who can get this treatment?

This treatment can work on all skin types and skin tones. It is also safe for sensitive skin. It is a popular treatment because it provides instant results without pain or downtime.
