What is Acne?
Acne is a very common skin condition that occurs when pores get clogged with oil, dead cells and bacteria, leading to the development of the non-inflammatory lesions including blackheads and whiteheads, followed by the development of the inflammatory lesions including papules and pustules. In some cases, even nodules and cysts form under the skin. It may require topical treatments or long term medication. There are many different types of acne. It can be hormonal, stress related, bacterial, fungal, drug or chemical induced. Acne is a two-fold skin problem, there are the pimples with blackheads and then there is the scarring acne can leave behind. No matter what the cause, it can really traumatize people. Making them feel self conscious because of the unsightly, red, irritated bumps and then the scars. Starting your treatments early can help avoid long term scarring and discolorations.

What is laser acne treatment?
We use the Syneron Candela® 1064 nm YAG Laser to perform gentle, customized treatments based on your skin needs. The laser targets the sebaceous glands with excess oil production, it also targets Cuti bacterium acnes, an acne causing bacteria that lives in the skin and causes acne flare-ups.
What is a Jessner’s peel?
The Jessner’s peel has been in use for years and is a well-utilized treatment for acne. It can help kill the bacteria leading to breakouts, uneven skin texture, acne marks, and hyperpigmentation. The Jessner’s peel is typically a medium-depth peel but can be modified as needed. The top layers of dead skin peel off over the next three to five days leading to clear looking skin. Post acne care is also suggested and advised post treatment.
What is a salicylic acid peel?
A salicylic acid peel is similar to the Jessner’s peel but only includes salicylic acid, so it’s gentler and has a mild exfoliating effect. Salicylic acid peels are good for blackheads and whiteheads reduction, because the acid unclogs pores and regulates oil production in the skin. With a salicylic acid peel, you’ll see clearer, smoother skin after 3-5 days.
What to expect during your treatment?
During your treatment you may experience a slight tingle or warming sensation on the treatment areas. This should only last five to seven minutes during your appointment.
What to expect after your treatment?
After your treatment your skin may be slightly red and flaky for three to five days. It will need to be cared for as if it was newborn skin. No abrasive soaps, cleansers, or creams should be applied in the first week post treatment. Starting the second day post treatment, you can use Aquaphor ointment or Cetaphil fragrance free moisturizer for a week, two to three times a day, if your skin starts to dry out.
